The Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association announced last week that if schools go back into session on May 18, it will support athletic teams in an effort to salvage what little will remain of a spring sports season.

What does “support” mean? Well, each conference is working out its own logistics for a regular season given the many variables. Some schools have already stated they won’t allow teams to compete past the last scheduled day of school. Many seniors officially check out at the end of May and so will they stick around or head off to previously planned summer jobs? And let’s face it, rescheduled proms and graduation ceremonies will take precedence over games.

But despite all the obstacles, should and could state championships take place?

My answer is simple – YES! In this edition of the Sports Buzz podcast, I talk about why and how it can work.
