Brian Conley spent nearly his entire life involved in the sport of cross country here in the Newark area, first as a youth, high school and collegiate runner, and then as a high school and college coach. Sadly, his life ended far too early when he succumbed to cancer at the age of 42.

Since his passing in 2015, Conley’s legacy has lived on at Goldey-Beacom College, where he coached cross country from 2006-14, with the presentation of the annual Brian Conley Comeback Player of the Year award to an athlete who best displays courage, determination and perseverance.
