A traffic stop this week led police to arrest a woman who has been sought on burglary charges since September.
The burglary happened around 11:15 p.m. Sept. 5 in the 1200 block of Old Coochs Bridge Road, according to Lt. Andrew Rubin, a spokesman for the Newark Police Department.
A man and a woman forced their way into a business and stole undisclosed items, Rubin said.
Surveillance footage and witness statements helped detectives identify one of the suspects as Kristy Jones, 40. Police obtained a warrant charging her with third-degree burglary, second-degree conspiracy, theft and criminal mischief and asked the public for help locating her.
Just after 1 a.m. Tuesday, police pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation on Elkton Road. The woman gave a fake name but was eventually identified as Jones, also known as Kristy Barbato, Rubin said.
Jones, who now lives in Elkton, Md., was jailed in lieu of $5,600 secured bail. She was also wanted on warrants from Delaware State Police, New Castle County Police and multiple capiases from Delaware courts, Rubin said.
No description of the male suspect was released.
