Someone stole this van from outside the Newark Center for Creative Learning.

Police are searching for a thief who broke into a Newark school and stole one of the school’s vans.

The incident happened overnight Tuesday into Wednesday at Newark Center for Creative Learning, a K-8 private school on Phillips Avenue, according to Lt. Andrew Rubin, a spokesman for the Newark Police Department.

The thief forced open a window and entered the school. Once inside, he or she stole the keys to the van and drove away in it, Rubin said.

The van is a silver 2015 Ford Transit with Delaware tag PC465163. It is marked with the words “School Students” and the name of the school on the rear of the bus, along with the number “3” on the left side of the back window.

No suspect description or surveillance footage was released.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact Det. Taras Gerasimov at 302-366-7100, ext. 3474, or tgerasimov@newark.de.us.

“If you see this silver van around Newark, please contact the police. Someone is riding around in style, but we’d like our van back please,” the school wrote in a statement Thursday.
