The Newark Partnership will host a health and volunteer fair on Saturday.
The free event is set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the back parking lot of Newark Senior Center.
TNP Executive Director Leann Moore said the event is intended to give Newarkers a chance to learn about some of the health services available locally, as well as opportunities to get involved in the community.
“I think it’s a great way to re-engage with the community, know what’s really out there in terms of your holistic health and be able to pass those resources on to others that you love or that you live next door to,” Moore said.
TNP is expecting approximately 20 organizations to have booths at the event, and there will be games and crafts to keep kids entertained.
Representatives from the University of Delaware’s College of Health Sciences will be on hand to talk about the STAR Campus health facilities that Newarkers can take advantage of. Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder Company will offer tips on creating an emergency plan for disasters.
Other exhibitors include YMCA of Delaware, Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, Lori’s Hands, reNu Medical and Injury Center and more.
The event also coincides with the Newark Parks and Recreation Department’s day of service in nearby White Chapel Park. Volunteers are needed to help with park clean-up and maintenance projects.
