A 16-year-old boy was shot in a park east of Newark on Monday, police said.
The shooting happened around 8:15 p.m. in county parkland on Greenridge Road in the Brookhaven neighborhood off Harmony Road, according to Master Cpl. Michel Eckerd, a spokesman for the New Castle County Police Department.
The teen suffered a gunshot wound to his upper torso. He was taken to a hospital and admitted in stable condition.
Police have not released any information about a possible suspect.
“This is an active and ongoing investigation,” Eckerd said.
