Police are searching for a man who robbed a gas station in Brookside early Thursday morning.

The robbery happened just after 1 a.m. at the Shell gas station at 380 E. Chestnut Hill Road, according to Master Cpl. Michael Austin, a spokesman for Delaware State Police.

The robber confronted an employee and presented a note announcing a robbery. He implied he had a weapon and threatened to shoot the employee if he didn’t open the register, Austin said. The employee complied, and the robber grabbed cash from the register before running out of the store and headed east.

The robber was described as a stocky black man who is 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was wearing a light-colored sweatshirt, dark pants and a dark hat.
