A Newark man is facing charges after police found methamphetamine in his truck during a traffic stop.
State troopers pulled over the driver of a Dodge Ram at 1:45 a.m. Tuesday for changing lanes without using a turn signal on South College Avenue near West Chestnut Hill Road, according to Cpl. Jason Hatchell, a spokesman for Delaware State Police.
The driver, 51-year-old David Mitchell, “made suspicious movements inside of his vehicle that captured the trooper’s attention, in addition to making false statements,” Hatchell said.
Police used a K-9 to search the truck and found 11.2 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Mitchell was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to signal. He was released on $1,600 unsecured bond.
