A Wilmington man was charged after police found him with a concealed weapon in a Newark neighborhood.
The incident happened around 3:15 p.m. Sunday in the 700 block of South Twin Lakes Boulevard in the Greene at Twin Lakes neighborhood off Elkton Road, according to Lt. Andrew Rubin, a spokesman for the Newark Police Department.
Someone reported a suspicious vehicle, and responding officers smelled marijuana and searched the vehicle. They found a 9 mm handgun hidden in a bag on the back seat, Rubin said.
The driver, Brendon Poulson, 22, was in possession of marijuana, Rubin added.
Poulson was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and possession of marijuana. He was released on $2,510 unsecured bail.
A passenger in the vehicle was not charged.
