Martin Honda has significantly scaled back its plans to build a car repair facility on Marrows Road.
The 4.2-acre site at the corner of Marrows and Ogletown roads, was annexed and rezoned in 2016, but the project never moved forward. The company came back to city council last month and won unanimous approval for the new plan.
The original plan called for three buildings – one each for Honda, Mazda and Kia dealerships – containing an auto repair facility on the first floor and office space on the second floor. A three-story parking garage was also planned.
Since then, the company realized the site couldn’t accommodate all three buildings, a representative told council without offering specifics.
The new plan includes only one building housing a Honda repair facility. The other two buildings and the garage were eliminated.
The Mazda and Kia repair centers will remain in their current locations on Cleveland Avenue, which are being renovated.
The Marrows Road site once housed a Shell gas station and is currently used by the dealership to store cars and as a temporary sales lot.
