Memorial Day parade

Brian Fulton and 3-year-old Declan watch last year’s Memorial Day parade.

On Sunday, Newarkers will have an opportunity to remember and honor the Americans who have died serving their country.

The city’s annual, two-part Memorial Day commemoration begins at 1 p.m. with a somber ceremony in front of the University of Delaware’s Memorial Hall, which was built in honor of Delawareans who died in World War I. The ceremony will include drills, the presentation of flags, patriotic music and the firing of a cannon.
