Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man who robbed a Newark store at knifepoint earlier this month.

The incident happened just before 3:30 p.m. May 15 at the Home Depot in Suburban Plaza, according to Lt. Andrew Rubin, a spokesman for the Newark Police Department.

Carrying stolen merchandise under his arm, the man tried to leave the store by forcing open an “entrance only” door, Rubin said. An employee confronted him and asked to see his receipt, and the man pulled out a knife and then ran out of the store.

He fled in a black pickup truck.

The robber was described as a white man, 25 to 30 years old. He was wearing a red shirt, blue jeans, glasses and a medical mask. He has a tattoo on his left hand.

Anyone with information the man’s identity should contact Det. William Anderson at 302-366-7100, ext. 3469, or wanderson@newark.de.us.
