Police are still seeking the public’s assistance identifying the perpetrators of an attempted robbery earlier this month and recently released new photos of a car believed to be involved in the incident.

The incident happened just before 1 a.m. Oct. 9 as the victim was walking on Courtney Street, near the intersection of Haines Street, according to Lt. Andrew Rubin, a spokesman for the Newark Police Department.

The three men approached the victim and ordered him to turn over personal property. The victim did not comply and instead ran away.

“As the victim ran away, he heard the sound of the slide of a firearm being racked,” Rubin said. “The victim fell to the ground as he fled and sustained minor injuries that did not require medical attention.”

The suspects were described as three black men wearing dark clothing. One was wearing light-colored jeans.

They were driving a 2011-2015 gray Honda Accord with tinted windows, black rims and a Delaware license plate. Surveillance footage shows the car arriving and leaving from Astra Plaza, a shopping center at the corner of East Main Street and North Chapel Street.

Anyone with information about the attempted robbery should contact Sgt. Greg Micolucci at 302-366-7100, ext. 3412, or gmicolucci@newark.de.us.
