Newark Police probing shooting on Madison Drive; no injuries reported

Police are investigating a shooting in the College Park neighborhood of Newark late Monday night.

The incident happened around 11:20 p.m. in the unit block of Madison Drive, according to Lt. Andrew Rubin, a spokesman for the Newark Police Department.

Residents of the neighborhood told officers they heard arguing in an area between two houses before shots rang out. No injuries were reported.

Officers found shell casings in the area where the argument happened, Rubin said.

Witnesses described two people seen running from the scene. One was a black man, armed with a handgun, 18 to 20 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall and wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and blue pants. The other was a black man, 5 feet 10 inches tall, wearing a tan coat and a black hooded sweatshirt.

No surveillance footage was released.
