A Newark, Del., man was killed at a truck stop in New Jersey on May 6, police said.
Police were called to the Flying J Travel Center in Carney’s Point, N.J. – located just minutes from the Delaware Memorial Bridge – just before 11 p.m. for an altercation in the drivers lounge, according to a statement from the Carney’s Point Police Department.
Officers found the victim, 47-year-old Tysheem Porter, lying on the floor. Porter suffered “severe injuries” and died at the scene, police said.
The suspect, Marchello Williams, 40, of Browns Mills, N.J., was sitting nearby and was arrested.
Williams was jailed on charges of homicide and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Police did not provide details about the weapon used, but Porter’s cause of death was blunt-force trauma to his head, according to NJ.com.
