A Newark man is facing a murder charge in the shooting death of another man outside a convenience store in Bear last fall.
Troy E. Waller, Jr., 23, was indicted by a grand jury last week for the shooting, which happened late Oct. 20 at the Wawa located at 1100 Pulaski Highway, according to Master Cpl. Heather Pepper, a spokeswoman for Delaware State Police.
The victim, 24-year-old Wilmington resident Daniel Haye, was shot twice while standing outside a vehicle in the Wawa parking lot. An altercation preceded the shooting, police said at the time.
Haye suffered injuries to his torso and leg and died at Christiana Hospital the next day.
Waller was arrested on a weapons charge related to the incident and was jailed while police continued the investigation. Last week, the grand jury indicted him on several charges, including first-degree murder, first-degree conspiracy, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited.
He remains in custody.
