A Newark man accused of dealing cocaine is behind bars after being arrested Sunday night.
State troopers began investigating earlier this month after getting a tip that a man in a silver Ford Escape was selling cocaine to people along the Kirkwood Highway corridor, according to Senior Cpl. Leonard DeMalto, a spokesman for Delaware State Police.
On Sunday, troopers got another tip that the man was spotted selling drugs out of his car in the area of Kirkwood Highway and Newport Gap Pike. Troopers spotted the car around 8:40 p.m.
The driver, 37-year-old Wilfri Moreno-Garcia, tried to hide something in his pocket but was arrested after a brief struggle, DeMalto said. Troopers found him in possession of 14.75 grams of crack cocaine and approximately 2.8 grams of powder cocaine.
Moreno-Garcia was charged with possession with intent to deliver drugs and resisting arrest. He was jailed after failing to post $26,000 cash bond.
