Three people were injured when two vehicles collided at a Newark intersection Sunday night.

The crash happened just before 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of South College Avenue and Welsh Tract Road, according to Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Company officials.

Three people, including one who was trapped in a vehicle, were taken to Christiana Hospital to be treated for minor injuries, according to Aetna.

Newark Police spokesman Lt. Andrew Rubin said a vehicle heading south on South College Avenue ran a red light and struck a vehicle that was turning from westbound Welsh Tract Road left onto South College Avenue. That driver, who Rubin did not identify, was cited for running the red light.
