The Newark Arts Alliance’s annual holiday art market features the work of 15 local artisans offering jewelry, ceramics, contemporary quilts, mosaics, paper quilling and sculpture, alcohol ink art, fused & stained glass, hand-painted clothing and ornaments.
“This six-week show offers lots of shopping opportunity for those seeking unusual, hard-to-find gifts,” NAA Executive Director Terry Foreman said.
The market also serves as a fundraiser for the arts alliance, which keeps 20 percent of all sales to fund its various program.
Artists featured this year include Carole Fox, Addie Spicer, Carole Huber, Eleanor Fink, Ingrid Jackoway, Stephanie Przybylek, Terry Foreman, Karen Hornor, Karen O’Lone-Hahn, Elizabeth Baehr, Catherine Houghton, Linda Majewski, Kelly Martin, Mary Jane Tyrie, and Barbara Tinsman.
The market opened this week and will run through Jan. 3. It is open Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from noon to 4 p.m. and Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 7 p.m.
NAA is planning a Wine & Cheese Shopping Night on Dec. 13 from 5 to 7 p.m., offering free refreshments, personal shopping help and a gift wrapping station for purchases. A Cookies & Cards event, set for Dec. 21 from 2 to 5 p.m., will offer card and gift tag making supplies in the classroom as well as cookies and warm cider. Both events are free.
Additionally, the Newark Arts Alliance offers its Members Gallery Shop brimming with handmade items made by its members. The collection of fine art and crafts is continually re-stocked all year, and anyone can apply for membership and submit their work to be offered for sale.
NAA is located in the Market East Plaza (near Captain Blue Hen Comics) at 276 E. Main St. Parking is free. For more information, visit newarkartsalliance.org or call 302-266-7266.
