A Newark-area man was shot after answering a knock at his door late Monday night, police said.
The incident happened around 11 p.m. in the 2000 block of Sunset Lake Road (Del. 72), south of Newark, according to Senior Cpl. Heather Pepper, a spokeswoman for Delaware State Police.
The man, 33, told police he was home alone when he heard a knock at the door. When he opened the door, he saw two men standing outside, and one shot him in the torso, Pepper said.
The man was taken to the hospital to be treated for his wound.
“The only suspect information known at this time is the one suspect is believed to be white male and the other is believed to be a black male,” Pepper said. “No clothing or vehicle description is known at this time.”
