A man was seriously injured Saturday night when he crashed his car on Christina Parkway, police said.
The crash happened around 9:45 p.m., according to Lt. Andrew Rubin, a spokesman for the Newark Police Department.
The man was driving his 2017 Ford Mustang east across the intersection of Elkton Road and Christina Parkway when he lost control of the car, which crossed the center median on Christina Parkway and crashed through a guardrail on the north side of the road, Rubin said.
“The vehicle overturned and struck a pole, ejecting the driver and bringing down an electrical wire,” he added.
The man, who was the sole occupant in the car, was taken to the hospital to be treated for serious injuries and was later cited for careless driving and driving at an unsafe speed. Authorities did not release his name.
Christina Parkway was closed for an hour while police investigated and an electric crew repaired the wire.
