A man accused of dealing drugs in the Harmony Woods neighborhood, east of Newark, is in custody after police raided his house on Jan. 21.
The Governor’s Task Force – a unit made up of state troopers and probation officers that address quality of life issues in high crime areas – staked out the house on Duet Court after receiving a tip that the resident, Elvis Toala, was selling heroin, according to Cpl. Jason Hatchell, a spokesman for Delaware State Police.
While conducting surveillance on Toala, troopers watched him make numerous drug transactions near his home, Hatchell added.
After getting a search warrant, police searched the house and arrested Toala nearby. He was found in possession of more than 850 bags of heroin, 27 oxycodone tablets and $700 in suspected drug proceeds, Hatchell said.
Charged with three drug-related felonies and a misdemeanor, Toala was jailed after failing to post $43,500 secured bond.
