A man from Bear is facing charges after allegedly burglarizing cars in the parking garage of a Main Street apartment complex on two separate occasions, police said.
The first incident happened April 6 in the 100 block of East Main Street, according to Lt. Andrew Rubin, a spokesman for the Newark Police Department. The victim told police a man entered a vehicle and rummaged through items inside, though nothing was taken and no damage was reported.
On May 4, officers went back to the same parking garage for a report of a car burglary and detained 24-year-old Joseph Knapp. Surveillance footage showed Knapp pulling on a door handle but failing to get into the car, Rubin said.
Video from the first incident showed Knapp was the person responsible for that burglary as well, Rubin added.
Knapp was charged with three counts of third-degree burglary and one count of attempted third-degree burglary. He was jailed after failing to post $4,000 secured bail.
