A man suspected of several thefts over the summer was arrested last week after he was spotted riding a stolen bicycle, police said.
The initial crimes happened just before 6 a.m. Aug. 29 at the Christina Mill Apartments, where a resident reported a man stealing a bike from a porch, police said. Several hours later, someone burglarized several cars on Timberline Drive and stole property from inside.
Police eventually connected the thefts to Christopher Hunter, 22, of Elkton, Md., who had been stopped as part of a “crime prevention check” on Timberline Drive prior to police receiving reports of the thefts. At the time, he was in possession of the bike that had been stolen at Christina Mill Apartments, authorities said.
After learning of the thefts, police obtained warrants for Hunter’s arrest but could not locate him.
On Oct. 14, officers spotted him riding a different stolen bike on Main Street and took him into custody on charges related to the thefts, police said.
