Police have arrested a man they say stole $1,500 worth of jewelry from a Newark-area home.
The theft was discovered Thursday in the 700 block of Paper Mill Road, just north of city limits, according to Grigori Lopez-Garcia, a spokesman for the New Castle County Police Department.
The victims told police they recently had restoration contractors in their house to repair water damage, and the investigation led police to 43-year-old Jason Hendricks.
Hendricks was charged with felony theft and felony selling stolen property. He was released on $2,000 unsecured bail.
Police carried out “numerous search warrants” and were able to recover all the stolen property, Lopez-Garcia said.
Detectives believe there may be other victims who have not yet come forward. Anyone who may have been victimized by Hendricks should file a police report by contacting the non-emergency number at 302-573-2800 or by e-mailing Nicholas.Beinke@newcastlede.gov.
