What’s the biggest issue currently facing the district?

Reopening schools.

How can Christina best recover from learning loss suffered during the pandemic?

Offer summer school programs which will allow for students to catch up academically during the loss of face-to-face instruction. Pandemic have revealed some failings of our current system, innovative and new solutions must be created.

Do you agree with the recent credit recovery expansion or should other techniques be used?

Credit recovery expansion is significant in determining the district needs to change one-size-fit all learning for all students. Without make up credits some students would not graduate on time and would most likely drop out of school. I am willing to learn more about other techniques.

Some students have benefited from completely virtual learning. Should a virtual option exist for students even after the pandemic? If so, what should it look like?

I need more data to decide if this option is feasible. Those students will miss out on the benefits that school environment brings such as socialization with peers, teachers and staff, school activities and after-school programs.

The district is about to receive an influx of federal funds from the latest stimulus bill. How would you vote to spend that money?

Schools Infrastructure would be one area. I need more access to relevant data, pertinent information, reliable sources with balanced perspectives, so I can make informative decision.

Christina currently has the lowest graduation rate in Delaware. What would you do to try to improve that statistic?

Emphasize the importance of crucial conversation with our students, parents, and caregivers to look beyond the facts and dive into the risk factors for school absenteeism and dropout numbers. Implement a Student Initiative Program.

With increased competition from charter schools, how would you try to improve enrollment rate and public perception?

Transparency and Effective Communication will create a collaborative relationship with parents, caregivers, teachers, staff, and the communities that integrates both objective and subjective realities.
