Several car break-ins around Newark have resulted in the loss of property, including a firearm, according to police.
Within a six minute window between 12:54 and 1 a.m. on Aug. 10, a suspect – described as a white man, wearing a long-sleeved shirt and gloves – broke into two vehicles and stole property, including a gun, said Lt. Andrew Rubin, a spokesman for the Newark Police Department.
The incident occurred at Rockwood Court in the Woods at Louviers neighborhood.
A week later, between Aug. 17 at 10:30 p.m. and Aug. 18 at 11 a.m., someone entered three vehicles parked in the 1200 block of Wharton Drive. The cars were rummaged through, and property was taken from one of the vehicles.
Rubin said that no vehicles were damaged, and one was unlocked during the theft.
Also on Aug. 18, between 11:45 a.m. and 3:56 p.m., someone burglarized a residence at the 100 block of Woodlawn Avenue by breaking the rear door. The suspect stole property from the residence. No one was home during the time of the burglary.
