Newark Police are still investigating a fight that left one person unconscious and bleeding from the head.
Officers were alerted to the incident around 12:45 a.m. Oct. 11 when someone called 911 to report an injured person in a parking lot in the unit block of New London Road. When police arrived, they found a large pool of blood but no victim.
A witness reported that someone had dragged the injured person inside a nearby residence.
"Officers knocked on the door repeatedly, but the residents refused to answer the door even though the victim was in need of medical assistance. When the residents were instructed that officers were going to make forced entry into the residence to provide medical care, the front door was then opened," a police spokesman said.
Once officers finally got in, they found the victim unconscious on the couch, bleeding from the head. The victim was taken to Christiana Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are still investigating the incident. No information about possible suspects was released.
