MIller's Ale House fire

An early-morning fire damaged Miller's Ale House on Churchmans Road.

An early-morning fire damaged a restaurant east of Newark on Wednesday.

The blaze was reported just before 5:30 a.m. at Miller’s Ale House in Center Pointe Plaza on Churchmans Road, according to Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael G. Chionchio.

Firefighters arrived to find flames coming from the front of the building.

The business was closed at the time of the fire, and no one was injured. Damage was estimated at $50,000.

Chionchio said investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire. The Christiana Fire Company said the fire started outside and then spread to the building.

The Newark-area Miller’s location opened in 2017, replacing a shuttered Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse. The sports-themed restaurant and bar chain is headquartered in Florida and has 94 locations nationwide.
