Harmony Road

The Harmony Road bridge over the railroad tracks will close for repairs.

Two road closures east of Newark will affect traffic in the coming weeks.

Part of Harmony Road will be closed from 6 a.m. July 19 to 5 p.m. July 26, officials said.

The closure will affect the bridge over the Amtrak tracks, which is between Ruthar Drive and Stanton-Ogletown Road. Crews will rehabilitate the deteriorated concrete bridge deck.

Even after the road reopens, motorists can expect nighttime lane closures.

Another project is planned nearby at the Interstate 95/Del. 273 interchange.

The right lane of westbound Del. 273 will be closed from From Aug. 1 through Aug. 30, and the on-ramp to southbound I-95 will be closed from July 18 to Aug. 23.

This closure is necessary for the contractor to demolish and repave the bridge deck.

The work is part of a major project to reconfigure the interchange, which has a notoriously difficult merge from southbound I-95 onto Del. 273. The work, which began earlier this year and will continue through the summer of 2022, involves relocating the I-95 southbound ramp to Del. 273 westbound and building a signalized intersection to improve safety for motorists.
