Police are seeking the public’s help locating a man accused of robbing a woman outside the TGI Friday’s restaurant in Newark earlier this year.

Sgt. Gerald Bryda, a spokesman for the Newark Police Department, said detectives identified 22-year-old Ray L. Delgene as the suspect through “an exhaustive investigation” that involved footage from public and private security cameras.

Police have an arrest warrant charging Delgene, whose last known residence is in Middletown, with second-degree robbery and endangering the welfare of a child.

The robbery happened May 2 just before 10:30 p.m. in the restaurant parking lot, located at 650 S. College Ave.

Bryda said the 40-year-old victim had left the restaurant and had just finished placing her child in the car when she was approached by a man who grabbed onto her purse and tried to pull it away.

During the struggle, the victim was knocked to the ground, and her purse was stolen. She sustained minor injuries and did not seek medical attention.

Anyone with information about Delgene’s whereabouts is asked to call Newark Police at 302-366-7111. You can send an anonymous text message tip by texting 302NPD and your message to TIP411. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or via the internet at www.tipsubmit.com where a reward may be available.

Just had to comment here to confirm some of what Retch said... for me my screen name on here says it all! that's why I left Claymont, and why I am ACTIVELY trying to leave Newark! scumbags everywhere!

So here I am reading the Newark Post, and three consecutive articles deal with black thieves, stealing from people and businesses. Great. Three stories, six pictures of robbers, 3 from New York, 1 from Middletown, and 1 from Newark. How 'bout we give them all ONE address: the local jail. And make it a permanent address for a long, long time. We all have the right to live our daily lives without the fear of being robbed in Newark.
