An adult and an infant were injured Monday when two vehicles collided east of Newark.
The crash happened just before noon at the intersection of Red Mill Road and Ruthar Drive, according to Master Cpl. Michael Austin, a spokesman for Delaware State Police.
A 30-year-old Seaford woman was heading east on Ruthar Drive in her 2006 Dodge Caravan and attempted to turn left onto Red Mill Road. She turned into the path of a 2008 Ford Focus heading west on Ruthar Drive, Austin said.
The Ford struck the minivan’s passenger side, causing the minivan to overturn and come to a rest on its roof in the middle of the intersection.
The driver of the Ford, a 23-year-old woman from Newark, suffered a minor injury. An infant in the minivan was evaluated for possible injuries.
The driver of the minivan, whose name was not released, was cited for failure to yield the right of way, Austin said. She was not hurt.
Red Mill Road and Ruthar Drive have seen an increase in traffic since part of nearby Harmony Road was closed last week for a six-week bridge repair project.
