Thanksgiving breakfast

Concert: Nov. 19, 8 p.m., at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Newark, 420 Willa Road. The Brandywine Friends of Old Time Music will host a performance by Robin & Linda Williams. They perform a robust blend of bluegrass, folk, old-time and acoustic country that combines wryly observant lyrics with a wide-ranging melodicism. Tickets $10-$20. Turkey Trot: Nov. 20, at Handloff Park, 1000 Barksdale Road. Newark Parks and Recreation will hold the traditional pre-Thanksgiving 5K and 10K. Registration begins at 8 a.m, with the 10K starting at 9 and the 5K starting at 10:30. Sign up for $30 at www.races2run.com. Coats will be collected for the needy.

German Christmas Festival: Nov. 20, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Delaware Saengerbund, 49 Salem Church Road. Event includes dancing and a white elephant sale. German food, baked goods and candy will be available for purchase. Free admission and free parking.

Concert: Nov. 20, 7:30 p.m., at Newark United Methodist Church, 69 E. Main St. The Newark Symphony Orchestra will perform. Tickets $8-$15.

Interfaith service: Nov. 23, 7:30 p.m. at Newark United Methodist Church, 69 E. Main St. The annual pre-Thanksgiving service rotates between different churches each year and brings together Newarkers of all faiths. Free and open to the public.

Thanksgiving breakfast: Nov. 25, 8 to 10:30 a.m. at George Wilson Center, 303 New London Road. Sponsored by the Newark Parks and Recreation Department, the breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, fruit, coffee, juice and tea. Call 302-366-7000 for reservations. $3 in advance, $5 at the door. Seniors admitted free.

Run for Pie 5K: Nov. 25, 9 a.m. at Glasgow Park, 2275 Pulaski Highway. After the race, a party featuring Thanksgiving pies will be held in the park. Registration $29 at fusionracetiming.com.

Thanksgiving dinner: Nov. 25, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ogletown Baptist Church, 316 Red Mill Road. Free Thanksgiving meal for anyone interested. Delivery or take-out only. Call 302-737-2511 to order.

NHS all-class reunion: Nov. 27, 4:30 to 8:30 p.m., at The Deer Park Tavern, 108 W. Main St. All Newark High School alumni are welcome. $15 admission includes light fare. Cash bar. Proceeds benefit NHS scholarship fund.

Winterfest: Dec. 3, 6 to 8 p.m., on Academy Street. Annual event features a Christmas tree lighting, music, roasted chestnuts and an ice-carving demonstration. Free.

Reindeer Run: Dec. 3, 7 p.m., at the Aetna fire station on Academy Street. The 5K utilizes downtown Newark, the University of Delaware campus and the James F. Hall Trail and raises money for Special Olympics Delaware. $30. Register at www.sode.org.

Snack with Santa: Dec. 4, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., at George Wilson Center, 303 New London Road. Kids and their parents can join Santa for snacks, crafts, games and photos. Vendors will set up Santa’s Secret Shoppe, where kids can buy gifts under $5 for family and friends. $2 per person.
