Community bike days: BikeNewark, the city of Newark and the University of Delaware will team up for Community Bike Days. Each event will include demonstrations, presentations about bicycle-related topics, a community bike ride and more. After several events earlier this week, the remaining one is set for Friday, 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Kells Park. The week will culminate in a community bike ride Saturday starting at Newark Shopping Center. Participants can choose between a 8.25-mile ride or a 2.25-mile family ride. Check-in begins at 9:45 a.m.
Cooch’s Bridge memorial: Saturday, 10 a.m., at the Pencader Heritage Museum, 2029 Sunset Lake Road. A ceremony will mark the anniversary of the Battle of Cooch’s Bridge and honor the colonial soldiers who died in the battle.
Military encampment: Saturday, noon to 3 p.m., at the Pencader Heritage Museum, 2029 Sunset Lake Road. Re-enactors will display Revolutionary War-era equipment and uniforms and will give demonstrations. Free.
City council meeting: Monday, 7 p.m., at city hall, 220 S. Main St. Council will vote on a proposal to build townhouses on North Street.
9/11 remembrance ceremony: Wednesday, 9 a.m., at Olan Thomas Park, 89 Paper Mill Road. The city and UD will remember those lost in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Open to the public. After the ceremony, volunteers will help clean up the park as part of the National Day of Service. Volunteers can sign-up on-site or in advance by calling 302-366-7000 or emailing email@example.com.
