Year in Review 2020

Newark Parks and Recreation hosts an outdoor movie last year. Another outdoor movie event is set for Saturday at Newark Charter High School.

Outdoor movie: July 10, 8:30 p.m., at Newark Charter High School, 200 McIntire Drive. The Disney Pixar movie “Onward” will be shown on a 30-foot screen on the Newark Charter soccer field. Admission is $8 per person for non-residents and $6 for residents of Newark. Bring snacks and chairs or a blanket. Parking opens at 7:30 p.m. Register online at

Main Street Alfresco: July 14, 4 to 9 p.m., on Main Street between Chapel Street and South College Avenue. Main Street will be shut down, and restaurants will offer expanded outdoor seating. Parking is available at city lots, but normal fees apply.

Concert: July 14, 6:30 p.m., at White Clay Creek State Park’s Carpenter Recreation Area, 880 New London Road. Somethin’ Like That will perform as part of the park’s weekly summer concert series. Free, but park fees apply.

Holy Family Summerfest: July 14-16, 5 to 10 p.m.; July 17, 1 to 10 p.m.; July 18, 1 to 9:30 p.m., at Holy Family Church, 15 Gender Road. The annual carnival includes rides, games, food and live music. Free admission and parking, but a charge applies for rides.
