Boxes of hope

“Boxes of Hope” will be distributed Saturday outside Shue Medill Middle School.

Art show: Friday, 4 to 7 p.m., at Glasgow Park Bank Barn, 2275 Pulaski Highway. Celebrate the art that was created during NCC heARTed, a county-wide art project bringing together New Castle County residents and visitors to share what they love most about their community through art. Free.

Fishing with First Responders: Friday, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Curtis Mill Park, 225 Paper Mill Road. Enjoy an evening of fishing with local first responders. Bring a fishing pole, bait, a chair and a picnic dinner. Free, but registration required at

Hope Day: Saturday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., at Shue-Medill Middle School, 1500 Capitol Trail. The Delaware Regional Dream Center will hold a contactless, drive-thru event to distribute backpacks and food boxes to up to 1,000 people. It will also raffle off a television. While supplies last. Rain or shine.

Main Street Alfresco: Wednesday, 4 to 9 p.m., on Main Street between Chapel Street and South College Avenue. Main Street will be shut down, and restaurants will offer expanded outdoor seating. Parking is available at city lots, but normal fees apply. A free, walk-up COVID-19 vaccine clinic will be held in front of Grotto Pizza.

Pets in the Park: Friday, June 11, all day, at Glasgow Park, 2275 Pulaski Highway. Free event will feature pet-focused vendors food trucks and more. Attendees can also visit the weekly Glasgow Park farmers market, which runs from 3 to 7 p.m.
