Holiday market and show: Tonight 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at JaneKav Gallery, 625 Barksdale Road, Suite 103. JaneKav Gallery will celebrate new works from Paula Camenzind, Mickey Irr, Jane Kavanagh Morton, Nancy Kavanagh O’Neill and Barbara Neale. Featuring handcrafted textiles, pottery, jewelry, encaustics, sculpture and glasswork.

Turkey Trot: Saturday, at Handloff Park, 1000 Barksdale Road. Newark Parks and Recreation will hold the traditional pre-Thanksgiving 5K and 10K. Registration begins at 8 a.m, with the 10K starting at 9 and the 5K starting at 10:30. Sign up for $25-$30 at Coats will be collected for the needy.

Surviving the Holidays seminar: Saturday, 10 a.m., at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 525 Polly Drummond Hill Road. Surviving the Holidays seminar is especially for people who are grieving a loved one’s death. Attendees will learn how to deal with the many emotions you’ll face during the holidays, what to do about traditions and other coming changes, helpful tips for surviving social events and how to discover hope for your future. Free.

Concert: Sunday, 3 p.m., at Head of Christiana Presbyterian Church, 1100 W. Church Road. The Imagination Players, a musical group made up of kids age 7-18, will perform. Free.

Christmas bells concert: Sunday, 4 p.m., at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 701 S. College Ave. The Capital Ringers, a Delmarva community ensemble, will perform a handbell concert. Tickets $15 at the door or at

Council meeting: Monday, 7 p.m., at city hall, 220 S. Main St. Council will vote on a Main Street development proposal.

Interfaith service: Tuesday, 7:30 p.m. at New Ark United Church of Christ, 300 E. Main St. The annual pre-Thanksgiving service rotates between different churches each year and brings together Newarkers of all faiths. Free and open to the public.

Thanksgiving breakfast: Thursday, 8 to 10:30 a.m. at George Wilson Center, 303 New London Road. Sponsored by the Newark Parks and Recreation Department, the breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, fruit, coffee, juice and tea. Run for Pie 5K: Thursday, 9 a.m. at Glasgow Park, 2275 Pulaski Highway. After the race, a party featuring Thanksgiving pies will be held in the park. Registration $30 at
