Turkey Trot: Saturday, at Handloff Park, 1000 Barksdale Road. Newark Parks and Recreation will hold the traditional pre-Thanksgiving 5K and 10K. Surviving the Holidays seminar: Saturday, 10 a.m., at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 525 Polly Drummond Hill Road. Surviving the Holidays seminar is especially for people who are grieving a loved one’s death. Attendees will learn how to deal with the many emotions you’ll face during the holidays, what to do about traditions and other coming changes, helpful tips for surviving social events and how to discover hope for your future. Interfaith service: Tuesday, 7:30 p.m. at New Ark United Church of Christ, 300 E. Main St. The annual pre-Thanksgiving service rotates between different churches each year and brings together Newarkers of all faiths. Free and open to the public.
Thanksgiving breakfast: Thursday, 8 to 10:30 a.m. at George Wilson Center, 303 New London Road. Sponsored by the Newark Parks and Recreation Department, the breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, fruit, coffee, juice and tea.
