Printmaker Rosemary Lane’s work is on display at the Newark Arts Alliance this month.

Artist reception: Jan. 14, 6 to 8 p.m., at Newark Arts Alliance, 276 E. Main St. Reception will celebrate a retrospective show featuring three decades of art by printmaker Rosemary Lane. Exhibit will be on display through Jan. 28. Free.

Cocoa and Cupcakes 5K: Jan. 15, 10 a.m., at Canal Little League Fields, 2548 Glasgow Ave. After the race, runners will receive hot cocoa, a cupcake and a commemorative mug. Race raises money for the Friends of Fusion Foundation. Registration $29 in advance at or $40 at the event.

MLK Day of Service: Jan. 17, 10 a.m., at the Judge Morris Estate, 76 Polly Drummond Hill Road. Volunteers are needed to help remove invasive plant species to restore the ecological balance of White Clay Creek State Park. Knowing Newark: Jan. 19, 7 p.m., via Zoom. The Newark Partnership’s Knowing Newark series continues with the virtual presentation “A trip along the Pomeroy & Newark Railroad.” Historian Jim Jones will talk about the railroad and the significant role it played in the town’s industrial development and the regional attempt to undermine the dominance of Philadelphia.
