A new Mexican-themed eatery will open soon on Main Street in the former home of D.P. Dough, which closed last month and will reopen on South Main Street by the fall.
According to Downtown Newark Partnership Administrator Ricky Nietubicz, the new dine-in and takeout restaurant slated for 127 E. Main St. is called El Diablo and will feature made-to-order burritos, quesadillas, tacos and salads.
El Diablo currently has locations in the Trolley Square neighborhood of Wilmington and in Branmar Plaza in North Wilmington.
Owners did not return requests for comment.
When open, El Diablo will be the fifth Mexican restaurant on Main Street and the sixth in the downtown Newark area, joining California Tortilla, Chipotle, Del Pez and Santa Fe on Main Street and Del Sol on North College Avenue.
